What to do with a Thumbsucker?

Karlee never took to the binkie and fortunately for us, she was such a good baby that she did fine without one. Then we soon discovered the reason she was so fine, particularly at nights...she had found her thumb. She use to only suck on it when we put her to bed but now it's becoming a thing she does often during the day. It's her way of comforting herself when she is tired or sad. She sucks on it sideways and at the same time, twirls her hair with her left hand. I think it is the CUTEST thing yet I know I could be in trouble trying to kick this habit if it's still around in a few years!

She is just too adorable! I use to suck my fingers as a kid and it took my mom forever to break me from it! Good luck! Those things are addicting!! :)

What a cutie! She is looking more and more like Macy to me. If you figure out what to do with a thumbsucker let me know because we are still dealing with Avery and her tumb... you just can't take a thumb away like a binky, but it sure made it nice when she was a baby.

Hey, It's me...Jessica said...

Oh how cute! My Sammy is a thumb sucker. I guess I'll worry about breaking that habit later, if I need to. We've got a few years:)

I love that she twirls her hair also. Such a cutie!

Don't worry... :)

It's not that hard of a habit to brake if you have patience and a diligent eye. :)

Email me if you need some tips (it was my number one task with a little girl I nannied for).

Good luck with that one!! Peyton is almost 4 & still sucks her thumb when she is tired or upset. The good thing though is that she slept through the night early b/c she sucked her thumb..here's hoping Kylie finds hers soon. P.S. Loved the pics of the twins birthday. Can't believe they're 1!! The cupcakes are too cute

I can't believe your kids are one. How's oregon life? I miss the northwest. YOur family is so cute. Thumb sucking can be a bummer but maybe it's just a short phase. Deva sucked hers for about a month.

i just spent a good bit checking your life out! I love everything...you know me, don't worry about that thumb. It'll end. I love your blog it's my favorite! Congrats on the big one year birthday...you did it! You are an inspiration.
Want to do the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky 2010? We've been trying to get back to the Derby...this may be the closest we come. Can't leave you behind this time!

GIRL your husband is a denist, what are you worrying for. Just kidding Troy was a huge thumb sucker and he just got older and stopped with no problems. I would much rather have a thumb sucker because they have it on them wherever they go VS Clay who loved his pacifier and what a nightmare when we would loose it. I am sure she will stop when its time. Denise Dawson
